How To Troubleshoot A Frigidaire Water Dispenser That Is Not Working

Things Needed

  • Replacement water filter, if needed

Frigidaire refrigerators are warranted by Electrolux Home Products for one year. During the first year of ownership, Electrolux will repair defective parts free of charge. The water dispenser is covered under warranty. Water filters and appliance bulbs are not covered. If the water dispenser on your Frigidaire refrigerator does not function properly, troubleshoot it to resolve common problems. If the issue is not resolved through troubleshooting, contact Electrolux to obtain service.

Does Not Dispense Water

Step 1

Turn the shutoff valve on the water line counterclockwise to open it fully.

Step 2

Press the "Water Filter" button to display the filter condition. If the filter needs replacing, turn off the ice maker. Push the end of the filter and slide out the old cartridge. Insert a new cartridge and push it in until it snaps into place. Press a glass against the water dispenser lever and fill the glass with water. Empty it and repeat for four minutes to flush the system. Turn the ice maker on. Press and hold the "Water Filter" button for three seconds to reset the filter status.

Step 3

Ensure the filter is installed correctly if water does not dispense. Push the end of the filter until it clicks into place.

Low Water Pressure

Step 1

Turn the shutoff valve counterclockwise to fully turn on the water.

Step 2

Allow the regenerative phase of the reverse osmosis system to complete, if applicable. Water pressure is low during this phase.

Step 3

Turn up the cut-off and cut-on pressure on the water pump if your home receives water from a well system. Contact a professional for assistance if you are not familiar with how the well system pump works.

Odor or Odd Taste

Step 1

Place a glass under the dispenser and press the lever. Empty the glass and refill it 10 times to rinse the tank.

Step 2

Check the water line connection. Ensure the line is connected to the cold water line is connected to the kitchen faucet. Reinstall the line, if needed.

Step 3

Change the water filter. An old or dirty filter can cause the water dispensed to have a bad taste.
