There are several methods of removing mold, many of which necessitate the use of harsh chemicals. Temperature change is another way to clean mold. Extreme heat or extreme cold can kill most mold spores.
Cold
Step 1
Place the mold-covered item in the freezer. If necessary, place the item in a zipper storage bag to prevent it from contacting other items in the freezer.
Step 2
Leave the item in the freezer for several hours.
Step 3
Remove the item from the freezer and wash it in clear water with mild dish washing detergent. If the item is fabric, wash it in a washing machine.
Heat
Step 1
Place the mold-covered item in the dryer if the item is fabric. If it is not fabric, place it in the dishwasher on the dry setting. If it is wood or stone, place it in the oven on the lowest setting.
Step 2
Leave the item in the dryer, dishwasher, or oven for at least 20 minutes.
Step 3
Remove the item and wash it with water and mild dish washing detergent. If the item is fabric, wash it in a washing machine.
