If you have to attach fabric to leather, you must learn how to adhere the fabric and leather surfaces in a way that creates a tight bond while still keeping the two materials flexible. Two types of glue work well for this. Contact adhesive creates the strongest bond, while spray-on adhesive dries clear but creates a slightly weaker bond.
Step 1
Wipe the surfaces with a dry cloth. Moisten the cloth with water and wipe over the surfaces to remove sticky buildup. Let both surfaces air-dry.

Apply the glue. If using contact adhesive, rub a thin layer of the adhesive over the fabric and the leather. For spray-on adhesive, hold the spray can 3 inches away from the fabric and spray a thin mist of glue onto the fabric. Repeat on the leather.
Step 3
Press the leather and fabric together and hold tightly in place for two minutes. Set a book or heavy object atop the two surfaces to hold them in place and let sit for about four hours when possible to ensure strong, dry adhesion.
