Motor oil stains can occur on driveways when oil is being added to a vehicle or if a car has an oil leak. On brick driveways, the oil absorbs into the porous surface, leaving an ugly mark. Removing oil stains from a brick driveway is accomplished by first getting rid of the excess oil, then concentrating on the stains. Unfortunately, when cleaning up motor oil stains, you may only lighten the mark, but even that looks better than leaving the entire oil blemish.
Step 1
Cover the motor oil stains with kitty litter, sawdust or a sweeping compound. Allow the absorbent to remain on the oil stain overnight. Sweep the absorbent from the brick driveway with a broom and dust pan.

Pour 2 tbsp. of grease-cutting dish soap directly on the motor oil stains. Fill a bucket with hot water. Dip a scrub brush into the hot water, and scrub the oil stains. Rinse the scrub brush in the bucket of water as you continue scrubbing.
Step 3
Rinse the area with hot water, and inspect the stains. If the oil remains on the brick, pour powdered laundry detergent onto the stains. Add 1/4 cup of hot water or enough water to form a thick paste. Scrub the area with the scrub brush, and allow it to remain overnight.
Step 4
Rinse the area the next morning with hot water. If the stains remain, repeat the stain-removal process.
