An Honest Review of Homebody's Reclining Couch

If you're anything like me and spend the majority of your free time scrolling through Instagram, you've likely seen an ad for the reclining Homebody Couch. Two-parts Cloud Couch, one-part BarcaLounger, the Homebody Couch does the impossible: making a very stylish and sleek sofa even ‌more‌ comfortable by adding in a recliner. I recently got the opportunity to test out the Homebody reclining couch and it has truly redefined my concept of comfort. Here's why this couch stands out as a premium addition to any living space.

The Homebody Sofa is quite oversized compared to other sofas, so it's important to measure your space and confirm it will fit before buying. I have the two-seater and at first, thought it would be too small, but it measured almost the same as my former sofa, which was a three-seater. Each piece, or seat, is measured individually at the measurements above. In total, the two-seater is 91 inches long, which, again, is rather long for a two-seat sofa.

As for comfort, the Couch takes it to a whole new level with its layered cushioning, which provides a soft and inviting feel. The addition of a duvet of eiderdown feathers tops four other layers, offering a luxurious and sink-into-your-seat feeling. For those who prefer a firmer seat, the cushion can be flipped to have the foam side up. The arms are also made without frames, so they're equally as comfortable as the seats. That means you can leap, lay, and lounge on the couch without worry of hard metal or discomfort upon landing.

Finally, the couch also allows for complete modularity, allowing you to customize it to your preferences. The L-shaped configuration can be set up to be right or left-facing, and the modular arms can be placed on either side, offering a design that works for you now and in the future. If you move? You can buy any piece individually at any point to create a larger couch, a different sectional, or incorporate an ottoman.

Assembling the couch was also a breeze. Each piece conveniently slides into and then locks with the surrounding pieces for a quick set-up. Although they recommend having a second person help you with assembly, I did it by myself and had no trouble at all. The instructions also come with links to videos, which are incredibly helpful to watch as you move through the steps.

The best part of the couch, in my opinion? The recliner. But this isn't the Joey and Chandler recliners of the 90s. The Homebody recliner brings a fresh take on the traditional lounger, including a fully automatic power system that you control from a remote. It only requires two inches of wall clearance, which means you can still place the sofa on a wall (like I did). It also comes with features like a built-in USB charging port and an adjustable headrest, making it truly the most comfortable seat in your house. All of these features do mean you need to plug the sofa into an outlet, so keep that in mind if you'd like to place it somewhere that doesn't have an accessible charging source.

The couch is made with an environmentally friendly fabric that can be removed and machine washed, which is a huge plus for me. I love the look of a white sofa, but am prone to spills, so knowing that it would be easy to keep clean is major. I haven't yet washed them fully in the washer, but I have spot-treated a few places and it's been a breeze to keep clean. I have the Coconut Linen color and fabric and it looks brand-new still and perfectly white and bright.

Similar to a Cloud Couch, the style of this couch does need regular primping and fluffing to look neat and tidy. I typically fluff up the pillows at the end of each day, so it only takes about 10-15 seconds of my day, but it's not a sofa that can look perfect without regular maintenance. I personally love the look of a lived-in couch, so it's perfect for me, but it might not be for everyone.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the price of the Homebody Couch, since it is not what I'd call a budget buy. In fact, at $3,740 for the two-seater, it's quite the investment. As mentioned, you can buy the pieces separately for as low as $420 or buy an armless chair or recliner starting at $1,660 to keep building out your sofa over time so you can save up, but it's certainly an investment. That said, the quality, craftsmanship, and comfort alone seem to be well worth the price. I can tell that this is a piece of furniture that I'll have for a very long time to come.
