How to Dilute Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil's most common use is its ability to aid in digestion. In addition to aiding the healing of stomach problems, peppermint oil soothes muscles, relieves colds, and alleviates one's mood. Peppermint oil is even an antiseptic. The important thing to remember when using peppermint oil is that it must be diluted first.

For Use in a Bath

Step 1

Mix 8 drops of peppermint essential oil with 8 oz. of water.

Step 2

Pour the peppermint mixture in to your bath water as it is filling up.

Step 3

Soak in the tub for 15 minutes to relieve aching muscles. This will also help alleviate cold symptoms.

For Use as a Massage Oil

Step 4

Mix 25 drops of peppermint oil with 1/2 oz jojoba oil.

Step 5

Pour this mixture in to a small glass jar. You can use a baby food jar for this.

Step 6

Rub this oil on the body while massaging the muscles. The peppermint oil will penetrate the skin. You will also be able to breathe in the aroma of the oil as it is being massaged on your body.

Deodorizing a Room

Step 7

Drip 25 drops of peppermint essential oil in to an empty spray bottle.

Step 8

Pour 2 cups of water in to the spray bottle and give it a shake.

Step 9

Spray the solution around the house where you need a little deodorizing done. Breathing in the aroma of the peppermint oil will also be beneficial if you are suffering from a cold.
