We all know that paint is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to change up your scenery — and with all of us spending a lot more time indoors lately, a change of scenery is definitely overdue — which is why we were so excited to learn that impossibly cool design-minded gift store Coming Soon NY (one of our favorite sources for hostess gifts) is releasing a capsule paint collection with direct-to-consumer curated paint brand Backdrop.
The capsule's three colors deliver just the bolt of excitement and vibrance you'd expect from the tongue-in-cheek design sensibility of Coming Soon. There's Barragan-Cito, a bright bubblegum-meets-Himalayan-salt pink inspired by Mexican architect Luis Barragán; Blue Is The Coolest Color, a super-saturated blue that draws from classic Italian design (and nods at French filmmaker Abdellatif Kechiche); and Pretty Ugly, a vibrant, on-trend olive green that's less midcentury and more postmodern.
The collection comes in special-edition paint cans, complete with an image of Coming Soon's bichon frise mascot Cosi, that can be collected and upcycled for vases and bookends. The collab also features matching T-shirts in the signature colors, just in case you wanted to have your own Zach-Braff-Garden-State moment. (A good photo op for the 'gram, and a great distraction during shelter-in-place.)
The collab is available at Backdrop starting Thursday, July 16, and will set you back $65 per can.
