Just in time for spring and summer, Article, the online retailer for midcentury and modern furniture, has just launched its new outdoor collection. From Lake Tahoe, with its "cabin by the lake" vibes; to the warm, earthy feel of Arizona Desert; and the industrial style of Urban Patio, there is something for everyone.
Zoe Garred, Article's director of product development, told Hunker that the new campaign was inspired by taking great indoor design outdoors — or "outspo" as she likes to call it.
"We want our outdoor campaign to show people it's easy to create beautiful modern spaces outdoors and inspire different styles of outdoor living," she says. The three new looks were all inspired by their namesake outdoor environments and feature pieces that work for spaces of all sizes.
Speaking of size, what about us urban dwellers without a ton of outdoor space? Garred recommends mixing and matching pieces rather than opting for a large patio set, which she says the collection was built for. "We wanted to provide consumers with the option to purchase their outdoor pieces individually as well as in small sets to make it easy to create a beautiful outdoor space," she explains. "If you live in the city, you're often not treated to a luscious green backyard and large outdoor space and your furniture should be appropriate for the space. Look for pieces that don't have the bulk of traditional outdoor furniture but are still very durable like our sleek natural black and wicker Trella sofa."
Garred says another way to deal with small spaces is to look for multi-use pieces. "Versatile furniture is key to maximizing your outdoor space and avoiding clutter. To make the most of your patio, I always suggest looking for furniture that serves more than one purpose." The company's Boden bar cart is one example that Garred notes, pointing out that it can be used for everything from a work table to a plant shelf to a food station. Chairs like the Solina stool can come inside to serve as extra seating.
