The year may be coming to an end, but when it comes to trend predictions for 2020, we're just getting started. Pantone just announced its 2020 Color of the Year — the elegant Classic Blue — and we recently reported on the rise of personalized gifts during Cyber Monday. And, thanks to Etsy, we've got the inside scoop on even more up-and-coming trends to keep an eye out for in 2020 — let's just say it's about to be a very colorful year.

For starters, Etsy dubbed chartreuse as its color of the year. According to Etsy's trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson, "chartreuse is a bold color known for increasing energy, encouraging unconventional thinking, and evoking feelings of growth and harmony." Etsy shoppers are even getting a head start on the trend, with a 12% increase in searches for green items and a 55% increase in searches for neon green items in the last three months compared to last year.

In addition to predicting chartreuse will pop up all over 2020 home decor, Etsy says color-blocking is a major trend to expect in the new year, with a 7 percent increase in searches for the trend in the last three months compared to last year.

"This look is all about pairing unconventional colorways and adding instant personality to any room, whether incorporating color-blocked pillows, wall art, or even tabletop decor," Johnson says.
