And now, Blakeney hopes to help decor enthusiasts transform their spaces even more completely — with a new wallpaper collection.
If you follow Blakeney on Instagram, you know she always keeps her creative muscle at work through her designs, artwork, and photography. For this new collection, Blakeney tells Hunker, she dug into her personal archive of more than a thousand pattern designs. Once she decided on her favorite patterns, the next decision was scale, then colorways.
The collection currently features six designs in "pre-pasted Surestrip," a type of removable material that makes the wallpaper easy to install. While the patterns can definitely work in a variety of spaces, Blakeney designed a few with a corresponding "dream location" in mind. Chaya, for example, came to life with nurseries in mind to "bring all those good protective vibes to a new baby." The Phoenix design, on the other hand, would look "vibrant and so memorable" in commercial spaces, like a cute boutique hotel, matcha bar, or nail salon, according to Blakeney.
And you might already recognize one pattern if you frequent her website. The Ayo wallpaper — based off Blakeney's sun design — is currently available for pre-order and will ship at the end of July.
"Ayọ in Yoruba means 'joy,' and Ayo is the symbol for my brand, and it's also kind of a representative of me, personally," Blakeney says. "It's about radiating positivity and the human-nature connection. As we roll out more and more designs in more and more categories you will see Ayo everywhere, shining brightly, radiating good vibes all over the place!"
Blakeney says her team plans to add new patterns and colors very often. Check out more of the wallpaper designs in the collection here. You can order a sample for $5; each roll goes for $130 and measures around 60 square feet.
