Today's a very good day if you happen to be in the market for a new sofa. Direct-to-consumer furniture startup The Inside has announced its first-ever sofa collection, comprising six frames that can be customized with more than 100 of the brand's fabrics.

The Inside was founded with the intention to help people move "beyond the beige," spicing up homes with bolder design choices — ones that they can practically swap out with the seasons if they so choose.

"In the past, there was this sense that you would decorate your home and be done," founder Christiane Lemieux told Fast Company. "But to the modern consumer, the home is never finished: It's always a work in progress. We are constantly changing the way it looks, rearranging the furniture, bringing in new pieces, changing the colors of our walls."

So the brand has developed a collection of hundreds of patterns, some in collaboration with names like Clare V. and Peter Som, that you can choose from to customize furniture items. That's right — every piece is custom made, and better yet, it's delivered within four weeks.

But the best part is The Inside offers all its furniture at relatively affordable prices. This is particularly exciting, since sofas are oftentimes one of the most expensive investments in a living room. The sofas are particularly helpful for renters who may need to get new pieces to fit different apartments over the course of a few years.
