If you've ever requested furniture assembly at Ikea, you know that they hire an outside company to come by and take care of the (daunting) task for you. Well, those days are over. Ikea has just acquired the same-day service platform TaskRabbit to take charge of their US assembly services.

"We will be able to learn from TaskRabbit's digital expertise, while also providing Ikea customers additional ways to access flexible and affordable service solutions to meet the needs of today's customer," said Jesper Brodin, President and CEO of Ikea Group.

TaskRabbit is a service that matches you to several "Taskers" who can help you accomplish household chores ranging from furniture assembly to yard work that same day, at several price points to choose from. Soon you will be able to hire a Tasker to deliver and assemble the Ikea furniture you've purchased on your own schedule and at a price that you can afford.

This, along with the new Ikea Place AR app that allows you to virtually place furniture into your space to scale, is totally game changing. We're here for it, and can't wait to see what's still to come.
