Who said you can't be bold with neutrals? Certainly not Cohesively Curated, who designed this living space with what can only be described as understated confidence. As you can see, an eclectic mix of vibrant patterns offset clean, basic shades — like tan, black, and white — in a palette that includes everything from the larger pieces to the small accessories. The black-and-white motif of the gallery wall matches the chevron tiling on the fireplace, and hints at the pattern in the dual lumbar pillows on the side chairs. Meanwhile, a jewel-toned couch pops against the surrounding laid-back hues, but its coordinating pillow keeps it from feeling out of place. In fact, its shade looks quite sophisticated against the clean coffee table and subdued area rug, making the case that one saturated color works when its partners are comfortable in the background. If you do decide to go this route, be sure to pick up a pair of beige arm chairs like the ones shown. Their smooth lines and casual shade go well with any type of pattern.
