How to Remove Dried Super Glue

Super glue is famous for its bonding powers with a variety of objects or, as the website proclaims, "The success of The Original Super Glue® derives from both its strength and versatility." Super glue can sometimes help repair household items, jewelry, furniture, ceramics, glass and china products. An equally famous aspect about super glue is the fact once the glue has bonded and dried, it's difficult to remove from skin and other surfaces. However, it's not impossible to remove it once it has dried without damaging your epidermis or other items.

Step 1

Dunk the end of a cotton swab in acetone and rub the skin with the dampened end. Continue in this manner until the glue starts to dissolve.

Step 2

Gently peel the glue away from the skin. If you're too quick, you could rip the skin.

Step 3

Dunk an old toothbrush in acetone to remove dried super glue from fabric. Rub the fabric with the toothbrush vigorously until you remove the dried glue.

Step 4

Turn the fabric inside out and scrub the back of it, as it's possible that the super glue seeped through.

Step 5

Dunk a toothbrush in acetone and rub it against super glue that has dried onto a hard surface, such as a counter top. Let the acetone soften the glue.

Step 6

Work at the dried glue with a paint scraper or piece of sandpaper. Reapply more acetone with a toothbrush. Continue scraping or rubbing the dried glue until it disappears.

Step 7

Fill a basin with warm water if any super glue has dried onto glass or has bonded two pieces of glass together. Allow the glass to stay submerged until you can easily scrape the glue off or the pieces break free.
