How to Remove Ink Stains from Leather

Ink from a pen will stain leather and the pen marks will remain visible on leather for years. With a few ingredients, you can remove that ugly ink stain on your leather couch, purse or jacket and have it looking like new again.

Rub some alcohol on leather to remove an ink stain.

Step 1

Dab some Isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball. Get the cotton ball wet, but not so the alcohol is dripping off of it.

Step 2

Perform a spot test on the leather. Apply some alcohol to an inconspicuous location and let it sit for 10 minutes. If the leather in your test spot looks clean and not damaged, continue.

Step 3

Rub the ink stain in a circular motion with the alcohol-soaked cotton ball. Let dry. Reapply the alcohol if some of the stain is still present.

Step 4

Condition the leather. Once the ink stain is removed from the leather item, use a high-quality leather conditioner such as Lexol to restore moisture and shine to the leather.
