Silly Putty is a moldable children's toy product made by the Crayola company. It is meant to be stored in its plastic egg container, but if a child places it onto another surface like fabric or plastic, it can be extremely sticky and difficult to remove. Once Silly Putty gets stuck to a soft plastic surface, it is not a lost cause. You just have to gently dissolve the product's adhesive before you can attempt to remove it or you'll damage the plastic underneath.
Apply a thin coating of grease lubricant spray onto the Silly Putty on the soft plastic. Buff the spray onto the stain gently with a soft terrycloth towel.
Dampen a cotton ball lightly with rubbing alcohol. Dab the Silly Putty stain gently with the cotton ball to dissolve the stain.
Wet another cotton ball with clean, cool water. Wipe the stain to remove any lingering grease lubricant spray or rubbing alcohol.
Dampen a second clean washcloth with clean, cool water and apply a small amount of liquid soap (about 1 tsp). Rub the cloth together to form a light lather, then rub the stain area gently to get rid of any stubborn pieces of Silly Putty.
Wet a sponge with cold water and wipe away the soap, then let the soft plastic dry. Repeat the entire process an additional time if any Silly Putty remains behind.
