Tile Master Bathroom

Rust stains can form from leaky toilets, showers and sinks, making your bathroom appear unclean and messy. Rust can weaken the tile, causing holes in the tile and floorboard. In addition, this can also chip away at the finish on the bathroom tile. Fixing the leaky area will prevent further damage. However, removing the rust stains will save unneeded expense from replacing the tile. It is important to clean the rust stains right away to protect the tile.

Step 1

Purchase a bathroom tile cleaner that can remove rust stains. These include Bar Keepers Friend Lime and Rust Remover, Clorox Green Works Bathroom Cleaner and Tile & Grout Magic. Other products may be useful; read the label to note if the product is safe on tile as well as for removing rust stains.

Step 2

Pour a drop of the tile cleaner on the spot or spray the rust stain area. Wait for nearly six minutes for the stain to soak up the cleaner.

Step 3

Use a brush to scrub the tile cleaner into the floor. The bristles are soft to avoid scratching or scuffing the tile. Scour the tile with a circular motion, covering the entire area.

Step 4

Soak a sponge in mild temperature water. Wring it out. Wipe the bathroom tile. Go over the area to remove the rust and the cleaning solution. Squeeze the sponge out frequently.

Step 5

Dry the area completely. If any stain persists, repeat Steps 2 to 4.
