Do not scrub the red wine stain. Always blot the stained area.

Accidentally spilling red wine on your couch can be a disaster. However, with a few simple steps, the stain can be removed. The key to removing the stain is acting quickly before the stain dries.

Step 1

Blot the red wine stain with a clean cloth.

Step 2

Pour a small amount of white wine on the cloth and continue to blot the stain until the red wine stain is removed.

Step 3

If the stain is still visible, pour a small amount of club soda onto a clean cloth and blot the red wine stain until it's removed.

Step 4

If the stain still can not be removed, pour baking soda, salt, or talcum powder on the stain and let it set and soak up the stain.

Step 5

Remove the baking soda, salt, or talcum powder after it has soaked up the stain.
