Candle wax remover
Laundry stain remover
ChapStick helps keep our lips moist in the winter. Many people like to keep the lip moisturizer close by—in a pocket, for example—for that very reason. Unfortunately, ChapStick in a pocket is easily forgotten and leads to stains when left to run through the washer and dryer. ChapStick is a waxy material, not entirely different from candle wax. Removing ChapStick is a delicate task, especially if it has been cooked into clothing by the dryer.
Place the article of clothing on a hard surface and stretch out the ChapStick stain.
Scrape ChapStick from the fabric with a dull-edged knife. Remove as much of the ChapStick as possible. Do not dig at the fabric with the knife as you could damage the material.
Apply a small amount of candle wax remover to the ChapStick stain. Cover the entire stain with the wax remover. Allow the remover to remain on the ChapStick stain for 30 minutes.
Place the garment in the washer and add laundry detergent. Set the water temperature to warm unless the care instructions on the clothes suggests cold water only. Wash clothing and allow to air dry. Inspect the ChapStick stain after clothes dry completely.
Spray any remaining ChapStick stain with a laundry stain remover. Allow the stain remover to remain on the stain for 15 minutes.
Apply liquid laundry detergent directly to the stain, then launder normally. Allow to air dry and inspect the stain.
Lay the article of clothing on a white rag if the stain remains. Place the stain directly over the top of the rag with the back of the stain facing up. Spray or pour a small amount of dry-cleaning liquid on top of the stain. The dry-cleaning fluid works to loosen the stain and deposit it onto the rag.
Lay the clothing in a sink and pour boiling water over the stain. Allow to dry, then apply more dry-cleaning fluid to the stain. Launder normally after the dry-cleaning fluid has dried.
