Killing bed bugs on clothing requires temperatures above 113 degrees Fahrenheit. If the bed bugs are only on clothing, the best way to avoid spreading them is to contain the bugs before you enter your house.
Fold the contaminated clothes on top of themselves to contain the bugs for transportation. You can also use a plastic bag. Be aware that any fabric the clothes came in contact with could be contaminated as well.
Turn the washing machine on hot and wait for the tub to fill up before adding the clothing. It may also be helpful to add bleach (color safe if the clothes are not white).
Put the clothes into the washer and dispose of the plastic bag, if used, outside of the house.
Put the clothes in the dryer on the highest heat setting after a thorough and hot wash.
