How to Wash Payless Airwalk Moccasins

Melissa Busse

Airwalk moccasins, available in several different colors, can be found at many Payless shoe stores. These moccasins feature soft, suede uppers accompanied by furry, man-made linings.

Because these shoes are constructed of a combination of man-made and natural materials, special care must be taken when washing them to avoid damaging the fabrics of the shoes. As with most properly maintained accessories made of suede, these moccasins should prove durable and long-lasting.

  1. Brush the suede uppers of the moccasins using a suede brush to loosen and remove any dirt. This should be done every time you wear your shoes in order to prevent the dirt from wearing into the suede fabric. This also helps prevent the nap of the suede from going flat.

  2. Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water. Add a drop of non-detergent soap to the water.

  3. Dip your sponge into the bowl and squeeze out the excess water. The sponge should be only slightly damp.

  4. Wipe down the inside of the shoe with the sponge, wiping in a circular motion. Avoid touching the suede with the damp sponge.

  5. Dry the moccasins in a warm place, but avoid placing them in direct sunlight. Do not wear the moccasins until they are completely dry.

Tip

Try sprinkling baking soda into your moccasins to keep them smelling fresh. Allow the baking soda to sit in the shoes overnight. The next morning, shake out the baking soda.

Warning

Do not polish suede, since polishing will ruin the nap of the suede fabric.

Never place your moccasins in the dryer. This will damage the fabric of the shoes.
