Wood glue is an very effective adhesive used specifically for bonding woodwork. Though intended for wood-to-wood purposes, the glue can still harden onto household surfaces and can be difficult to remove. Special precautions must be taken when attempting to remove wood glue from a carpet, which can be damaged without the proper cleaning materials. Wood glue can be easily dissolved within a matter of minutes when the right method is used.
Step 1
Heat 1 cup of white vinegar on the stove. Allow it to reach a hot temperature just before it begins to simmer.
Step 2
Pour the vinegar into a clean, plastic spray bottle. Ensure that it works properly by spraying a small amount into a sink or rag.
Step 3
Spray a generous amount of the vinegar onto the wood glue stain on your carpet. Allow it to soak the residue for at least 30 minutes before removal.
Step 4
Lightly scrub the glue with a microfiber cloth to loosen it. Avoid using excessive force, as the vinegar should allow the softened glue to be lifted with ease.
Step 5
Steam clean the affected area or use an appropriate household detergent for a thorough removal.
