How to Remove Oven Cleaner From Vinyl Flooring

Cleaning the oven can be a tiresome chore, but even worse is the aftermath of the oven cleaner. Spilling oven cleaner on the vinyl floor beneath the oven door makes for a terrible staining that is tough to get off. Usually, more than one method must be applied in order to get the stains from the floor. Sometimes, removing the oven cleaner from a vinyl floor is virtually impossible. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to apply some serious elbow grease to the vinyl flooring that has oven cleaner residue left behind.

Step 1

Wet the oven cleaner-stained vinyl flooring with warm water and the sponge.

Step 2

Sprinkle scouring powder onto the stained areas, and with the scouring sponge or soft steel wool, scrub the stained areas in a circular motion. Rinse the area with fresh water when the moisture dries out. Dry the floor with a towel. Proceed to the next step if the stains persist.

Step 3

Wet a magic eraser, such as a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and scrub the stained area in a back and forth motion. Rinse and repeat with the damp magic eraser. Rinse with fresh water, and dry the floor well with a towel.

Step 4

If you still have no luck removing the stains, wipe the floor with clean water, and apply isopropyl alcohol to the sponge and stain. Scrub, back and forth, with the scouring sponge until stains are reduced or removed. Rinse with fresh water, and towel dry. Proceed to the next method if you still see no results.

Step 5

Apply a little bleach to the vinyl flooring on the stained area as a last resort. Remove all rugs and towels that could be damaged. Use caution around your clothes. Scrub the stained flooring with a well rinsed scouring sponge until the stains are reduced or removed. Rinse with fresh water, and towel the area dry.
