Steam cleaner vacuums turn water into a vapor steam that cleans your carpets. You don't always have to spend money on expensive liquid cleaning products for your steam cleaner vacuum. You can make an effective cleaning solution from items that you already have at home. A good cleaner will penetrate dirt and stains and then lift them up and out of your carpet and other surfaces. The results of homemade mixtures are just as good, and you get to keep some much-needed cash in your pocket.
Fill a 5-gallon pail with about 3 gallons of hot water. Let the water run for awhile until it's steaming hot. Piping-hot water reduces the time it takes your steam cleaner to heat and vaporize.
Add 2 tbsp. of vinegar, 1/4 cup of ammonia and 3 tbsp. of dishwashing liquid to the pail. You can also add 2 tbsp. of baking soda, Febreze or another odor deodorizing household solution to your mixture for a fresh scent.
Mix everything together thoroughly. Pour the homemade steam cleaning solution into your steam cleaner vacuum up to the fill point. Proceed with your steam cleaning project and refill as needed. This recipe should be good for two cleanings.
