How to Make Enzyme Cleaner

Removing tough stains around the house can require a harsh chemical cleaner and a lot of elbow grease. But there is an easier and safer way to clean in your home. Enzyme cleaners use powerful enzymes to break up stains on a molecular level, meaning that the cleaner does all the work, saving you hours of scrubbing. This recipe for a homemade enzyme cleaner is also all natural, and leaves behind no harmful residue or dangerous fumes.

Step 1

Place 300 grams of citrus scraps into the bottle. If they do not fit through the mouth of the bottle feel free to cut the scraps into smaller pieces.

Step 2

Add 100 grams of brown sugar to the citrus scraps.

Step 3

Pour one liter of water into the bottle with the citrus scraps and brown sugar, then screw the cap onto the bottle.

Step 4

Shake the bottle vigorously until the ingredients have mixed together well and all of the brown sugar has dissolved. This should take 30 seconds to a minute of shaking.

Step 5

Write the day and month you put the mixture together somewhere on the bottle.

Step 6

Let the solution sit for three months so that it can properly ferment, then add half a cup of the mixture to a liter of water and use it as you would any store-bought household cleaner.
