The battery-powered Swiffer WetJet uses a push-button operation to spray cleaner onto hard surface floors. The unit requires simple assembly before the first use and regular replacement of the cleaning solution and cleaning pads.
Assembling the Swiffer WetJet
The Swiffer WetJet handle comes in sections that you snap together for the first use. The sections have holes on one side and pins on the other that snap into the holes. You also need to insert four AA batteries before the first use.
Line up the pins with the holes and slide the two pole sections together to assemble the handle. The parts click together when they are secure.
Open the battery compartment door, which is just above the cleaner compartment about halfway down on the handle. Insert the AA batteries as shown on the diagram inside the compartment.
Replace the door on the compartment securely to hold the batteries in place.
Loading the Cleaner
The premixed cleaning solution comes in plastic containers with special lids. The bottle goes into the cleaner compartment upside down, with the lid going into the compartment. Each bottle has a flat side that goes against the handle. Press the bottle into the compartment until it snaps into place securely. The bottle shouldn't wobble or move in the compartment if it is placed correctly.
The Swiffer WetJet also needs a clean pad on the bottom cleaning surface before use. The pads stay in place with Velcro. Press the printed side of the pad onto the Velcro on the mop head so the white cleaning surface faces down toward the floor. When the pad gets dirty, pull the pad off and replace it with a new one.
Replacing Cleaner Bottles
The bottle of cleaner needs to be replaced occasionally. Swiffer offers different cleaning formulas to choose from, such as scented solutions, an antibacterial cleaner and a wood floor cleaner. You may want to use a different formula for a certain room, requiring you to switch the bottles.
To remove the current bottle of cleaner, press the release button on the cleaner compartment. This releases the hold on the bottle and allows you to pull it out of the compartment. To prevent spills, the bottle lid automatically seals itself once removed from the compartment.
Using the Swiffer
The Swiffer WetJet is generally safe on hard surface floors that are sealed, including sealed wood, laminate, vinyl, stone, tile and linoleum. Using the solution on other surfaces may result in permanent damage to the flooring.
Sweep or vacuum the floor to remove dirt before using the WetJet.
Check the cleaner and pad to make sure the unit is ready before each cleaning session. Replace the pad as it gets dirty.
Place the Swiffer WetJet on the floor where you plan to clean.
Press the button near the top of the handle for about 2 to 3 seconds to initiate the stream of cleaner. Push the pad back and forth over the wet area.
Push the button again to spray additional cleaner on the next section of flooring.
Flip the mop head so the scrubbing strip along the front touches the floor to remove tough spots.
