Things You'll Need
Clean cloth rags
Clean coffee filters can be used in place of the newspaper.
Gel window clings are fun and colorful decorations that are popular for holidays and other festive events. While gel clings are generally easy to remove, they can sometimes leave a film on the window. This is especially common if the cling is left on for an extended period of time and the window is not cleaned regularly, allowing dust and dirt to build up around the edges of the window cling. The window stains resulting from these decorations can be removed with a few homemade cleaning products.
Removing a Window Cling Stain
Wipe the window with a cloth dipped in clean water to remove the topmost layer of dust and dirt.
Apply rubbing alcohol to a clean, soft cloth. Use the cloth to scrub at the window cling stain. This should remove the worst of the grime and build up.
Mix 1/4 cup of vinegar, 1 tablespoon. of cornstarch and 1 quart of water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Spray the homemade window cleaner on the glass and wipe with a crumpled sheet of newspaper. Repeat this step, as needed, to remove any stains.
Using a dry cloth, sweep the window in broad up and down motions to dry any remaining window cleaner.
