How to Remove a Smoke Smell With Orange Peels

Whether it is from fire damage, a kitchen disaster or a tobacco product, the odor of smoke is pervasive. Smoke odor can linger for a very long time, not only on skin and clothing, but also on walls, upholstery and carpeting. Fortunately, if you live in a home or work in an office where the smell of smoke is persistent, you can use orange peels to combat the smell.

Select ripe oranges to get the most fragrant smell from the peel.

Step 1

Peel the oranges. You will not need the fruit to combat the smoke odor, just the peels. If you're trying to remove a smoke smell from your hands after smoking a cigarette, you can use the peels immediately by rubbing them on your fingers where there is a lingering cigarette odor.

Step 2

Fill a large pot with water and bring the water to boil.

Step 3

Boil the orange peels to release the perfume into the air to combat the smoke odor. You can stop boiling the peels whenever you chose, though try to keep them boiling for at least 10 minutes.

Step 4

Remove the peels from the water when the water has cooled. You can place these cooled peels in bowls and set them around the house in areas that have the smoke odor.
