According to Susan Sumner, a researcher at the University of Nebraska, vinegar and peroxide combined makes a powerful cleaner. This combination is much stronger than either of the substances alone and will kill over 100,000 types of organisms. It can kill harmful pathogens like E. coli and salmonella. This simple, powerful cleaner is also safe for people and is used to clean food surfaces like cutting boards but also works when washing vegetables.
Fill one spray bottle with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and another bottle with straight white vinegar.
Spray the item to be cleaned with one solution first and then follow right after with the second solution. It does not matter which solution is applied first. Allow the mix to sit on the surface for several minutes.
Wipe the surface with a clean rag to remove any traces of the peroxide and vinegar. Rinsing is optional but not necessary.
