DIY: Scented Electric Plug-In Refills

Scented oil plug-in air fresheners can be very expensive. Most plug-in air fresheners last around 30 days. Stores do not sale refills kits without having to purchase the entire scented oil container. However, you can make your own refill kit at home. You can also choose your favorite scented oil, which plug-in air fresheners may not produce.

Make your own plug-in air freshner with scented oils.

Step 1

Take a putty knife and place it between the top cap of the air freshener and the glass or plastic part. It will look like a plastic cap to prevent leaks. Take the putty knife and work it in a back-and-forth motion until the top of the oil warmer pops out of the glass or plastic container. The wick will come off with the cap.

Step 2

Pour in the scented oil of your choice. Use the funnel to pour the scented oil that is made for an oil warmer into the container. You can purchase scented oil in small and large bottles at most retail stores, in the craft department.

Step 3

Take the top of the scented oil container and snap it back into place. Make sure you do not bend, break or crack any parts of the top, which include the wick and a plastic cap. The wick goes from inside the container up to the inside of the plug-in warmer. The cap connects the wick to the container, which creates a leak-proof seal.

Step 4

Place the scented oil container into the plug-in air freshener.

Step 5

Plug your scented oil air freshener into the wall outlet of your choice. Refill when needed.
