The Rainbow E2 vacuum features a "hurricane" motor, water bath filtration and HEPA neutralizer filtration. Each time you use your Rainbow vacuum, you must disassemble it for cleaning, and you occasionally will find it necessary to go a step further and remove and clean the HEPA filter. Although the machine may appear complicated to take apart, if you learn the process you soon will be able to do it easily and quickly.
Unplug the Rainbow E2 vacuum from the wall outlet. Never take apart a machine while it is plugged in.
Pull the tool being used on the machine from the lower curved wand. This tool may be the floor and wall tool, the dusting brush, upholstery tool or crevice tool.
Take the lower curved wand out of the straight wand.
Remove the straight wand from the curved handle, or upper, wand.
Pull the soft Rainbow hose from the upper wand.
Push the latches on either side of the hose coupling where it enters the main body of the Rainbow E2 vacuum. Pull the hose away from the vacuum.
Push the foot latch located on the front of the machine's main body. Pull the main body and water basin from the wheeled dolly portion of the Rainbow E2 vacuum as you tip it back slightly.
Unlatch the connectors located on either side of the vacuum's main body where the motor portion attaches to the water basin.
Lift the motor unit from the water basin.
Push upward with the tip of a screwdriver on the latches located on the bottom of the panel on the rear of the motor unit.
Pull the lower portion of the panel out as you lift it up.
Pull the HEPA neutralizer out of the motor unit.
