Directions to Self-Clean a KitchenAid Wall Built-in Oven

KitchenAid offers a line of built-in convection ovens for home use. Baking, roasting or broiling can cause food spills that burn onto the oven floor. KitchenAid wall ovens include a self-clean feature that uses extremely high heat to turn the spills and residue into ash. The self-clean feature does most of the work for you -- all you have to do is wipe out the ashes. KitchenAid recommends using the self-clean cycle before the oven builds up heavy residue, for the best results.


Step 1

Open any windows or turn on a fan to ventilate the kitchen. Make sure the oven is turned off and cool before attempting to clean it.

Step 2

Remove any items from inside the oven, including the racks, broiler pan and temperature probe.

Step 3

Dampen a cloth and wipe the inside of the door frame and inside the oven cavity frame. Don't wipe the gasket. Wipe out any excess food spills from the bottom of the oven to prevent excess smoking.

Step 4

Close the oven door and select "More" from the main menu.

Step 5

Select "Self Clean" from the menu and choose "+" or "-" to select a cleaning time. For heavy soil, choose a longer cleaning time.

Step 6

Press "Start" to begin the self-cleaning cycle. The oven door will lock automatically and the cycle will begin.

Step 7

Press "OK" on the control pad to end the "Complete" message and reminder tones when they sound.

Step 8

Dampen a cloth with water and wipe out any ash from the oven cavity. Replace the racks, broiler pan and other items you removed.
