Self Cleaning Instructions for a Frigidaire Gas Oven

The self cleaning cycle on your Frigidaire gas oven helps reduce the amount of elbow grease necessary to clean your oven, but it's still important to follow the correct maintenance procedures to keep it clean and functioning properly. Wipe away spills or grease splatters as they happen to prevent buildup in your oven so you don't need to run the self cleaning cycle often. Keep in mind that this cycle will heat up your kitchen due to the high temperatures used to burn away grease, baked-on food and other debris in your oven so you may want to wait for a cool day or evening to clean your Frigidaire gas oven.

Step 1

Remove any pans and the oven racks from your Frigidaire gas oven. The self cleaning cycle will not damage the oven racks but the high temperatures could discolor them.

Step 2

Wipe any grease from the inside of the oven door with a rag soaked in hot, soapy water. Rinse the rag well and wipe the inside of the door again to remove the soap.

Step 3

Close the oven door.

Step 4

Press the "Clean" button located on the bottom right side of the Frigidaire oven's control panel.

Step 5

Press the down arrow button to choose a two hour cleaning cycle for a lightly soiled oven, or press the up arrow button to select a three hour cleaning cycle for average to heavily soiled ovens.

Step 6

Wait for the self cleaning cycle to start. The control panel will display "CLn," the oven door will lock shut and the door locked light will illuminate. You cannot open the oven door until the self cleaning cycle is finished and the oven has cooled to a safe temperature.

Step 7

Open the oven door when the door locked light goes out and wipe away any remaining ash with a damp rag.

Step 8

Wash the oven racks with hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry the racks and return them to your Frigidaire gas oven.
