As night falls, snails -- which are just slugs with shells -- begin to rummage around your garden, eating holes in your beautiful produce. If you don't do something, you won't have anything fit to eat at the end of the season. There's no need to buy chemicals that might hurt children, pets and other animals. Get rid of pesky snails and slugs with the effective and safe beer method.
Identify the area where you notice a lot of snail activity. You'll notice holes in your plants. Snails usually hang out in moist areas.
Fill a bowl halfway to the top with a just-opened beer. Snails don't like stale beer.
Place the bowl on the ground near the snail activity. The snails are attracted to the beer. They crawl in, can't get out and drown.
Dispose of the beer and dead snails the next morning. Repeat as needed.
