The Little Giant VCMA-15ULS is a float-actuated electric pump designed to remove condensate water produced by high efficiency gas furnaces, air conditioners and dehumidifiers. It replaces original equipment pumps in most systems or serves as an enhancement for units requiring manual draining of condensate. The VCMA-15ULS features a 1/2-gallon ABS holding tank and a 1/6-horsepower 115-volt AC electric pump. Two 3/8-inch barbed inlet and discharge connectors accommodate plastic tubing or garden hose. In basement installations, the unit is sufficiently powerful to pump water vertically to reach ground-level drain plumbing and drains. The VCMA-15ULS pumps hot condensate from furnaces up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Check float switches and inlet/discharge tubing if the unit does not turn on and off automatically or does not pump condensate.
Make sure sufficient condensate from the coils of the air conditioner or furnace is reaching the tank to activate the float switch.
Check for kinks or obstructions in the inlet tube and make sure inlet tube is adequately sloped to allow gravity feed from the condenser coils.
Turn on the power and remove the motor/tank cover assembly from the tank.
Hold the motor/tank cover assembly level and lift the motor switch float. The motor should turn on just before the float contacts the cover assembly. Lower the motor switch float. The motor should turn off before the float reaches the end of its downward travel.
Raise the safety switch float. The motor should turn on just before the float contacts the cover assembly. Lower the safety switch float. The motor should turn off before the float reaches the end of its downward travel.
Check the discharge tubing for obstructions or kinks and clean as necessary. The vertical span of the discharge tubing should not exceed 10 feet in length.
