How to Kill Slime Mold Clogging Your Sink

Slime, mold and other bacteria can easily build up in your sink and cause minor clogs. Many expensive products are on the market that claim to solve this problem. The problem can be quickly resolved, however, using items you probably already have in your cupboards. Bleach, vinegar and baking soda are common household products that kill germs and clean your pipes. These products can also be used on a monthly basis to prevent future mold and bacteria growth in your sink and pipes.

Step 1

Pour ½ cup bleach down the drain, and let it stand for one hour.

Step 2

Pour 2 cups boiling water down the drain.

Step 3

Run hot water for one minute.

Step 4

Put ¼ cup baking soda down the drain.

Step 5

Pour 1 cup vinegar down the drain, and let it stand for 15 minutes.

Step 6

Pour 2 cups of boiling water down the drain.

Step 7

Run hot water for one minute.
