Mice can harbor disease and damage wiring and other parts of your home. If you notice that you have mice in your home, it's important that you get rid of them right away. If you think you might have mice in your home and need a way to get rid of them fast, you can have your problem fixed in a few days.
Determine if you have mice in your home. Several good indicators of their presence include unexplained holes or chewed-up food packages, droppings, noises that sound like small animals in the walls or ceiling or perhaps the most obvious sign, tiny mouse foot prints.
Locate what could be drawing mice to your home. For example, regularly opened pet food is a common reason, as are large openings in the home that make it easy for mice to enter. Find exactly where and why the mice are entering your home and address the problem accordingly. Remove the pet food from your home. Block entrances to your home where mice are getting in with blocks of wood secured by a hammer and nails.
Remove their shelter. More than likely, if you have mice, a group of them are living somewhere in your home. Once you have found their shelter or other possible shelters, install traps in a way that would make if difficult for the mice to avoid them.
Find any outside areas where they may live. This could be abandoned cars, sheds or simply uncut grass. Address these problems by moving possible outdoor shelters as far from your property as your can.
Check all the corners and entryways into your home one last time to make sure there is no easy way for mice to enter your home. Then, seal these entryways with wood, metal or another appropriate substance for your home.
Lay or spray mouse repellent at the spots where your mice are entering your home.
