If you are tired of the color of your existing ceramic tile, you can simply paint your tile a new color and quickly revitalize the room. With the right materials and preparation, you can easily paint existing tiles a new color yourself.
Mix the oxygen bleach powder and water in a bucket, according to the manufacturer's instructions. Liberally apply the bleach mixture to the tiles to be painted and let sit for 10 minutes.
Scrub the tile surfaces clean with additional bleach mixture and a scrub brush. Rinse the area with clean water. Allow the tile and grout to dry for 48 hours.
Paint the tile with a coat of oil-based paint, applying the paint with a low-nap roller. Allow to dry overnight.
Apply a second coat of paint and allow the surface to dry for 48 hours.
Wipe the painted surface with a clean rag to remove any dust that has settled during the drying time. Apply a coat of urethane over the paint, following the manufacturer's instructions for application. Allow to dry completely.
