There are a variety of cleaning needs around the house, to cater to which you need an array of cleaning solutions. While minor cleaning can be carried out by simply attaching a nozzle to the garden hose to allow a pressure cleaner effect, you might need to purchase a complete pressure washer for more heavy duty cleaning. Alternatively, you can build your own pressure washer with the help of a few tools and gadgets. There are a few things that you need to keep in mind here, including, the kind of pressure washer you want to create, the power it runs from and the pressure water output you want to achieve as well as how long and large your cleaning project is going to be.
Purchase the needed equipment. The frame you choose should take into account the need to house not only the motor but support the weight of your pressure washer's tanks as well as a space to store your pressure water hose if you are using one.
Place your base on the frame you are using. Center the motor onto the base. Secure the motor in place with fasteners and utility bolts.
Place tanks for air and water along the back of frame base and secure them to the frame. Connect the garden water hose to the outside faucet and connect to the water tank.
Attach the water pump to the water tank and the air tank. Feed this connection to the pressure hose.
Depending on the unit you have created you may be using a gas powered or electric motor based cleaner. Make sure pressure washer is turned off.
Check your fuel levels. If you are running a gas powered system fill the gas tank. If you have created an electric based system test the outlet to ensure it is working. Then run your extension cord to the outside outlet you will be using and connect.
Fill the water tank and ensure tank. Check the hose connections and make sure the system is secure. Turn on the washer.
Let the washer run for a minute or two to ensure it is venting properly and test the water flow from the hose nozzle. Use the trigger on the hose nozzle to release water and twist to adjust the pressure.
Remove any breakable items from near the area you will be working with and start cleaning.
