How to Change the Bulb in a Frigidaire Front Load Dryer

Kenneth Crawford

Frigidaire front load dryers have a light at the front of the drum area to enable the user to see inside the drum clearly. Frigidaire uses a 7-watt incandescent bulb in its dryers. Replacement bulbs are available at hardware stores and home improvement centers.

Changing the bulb in a Frigidaire front load dryer is a straightforward process. Although you are not working with the wiring of the dryer, it is still a good idea to remove power from the dryer before replacing the bulb.

  1. Unplug the Frigidaire front load dryer power cord from the outlet.

  2. Open the dryer door and find the light lens cover. The light lens is either on the front of the tumbler or near the door latch on the inside door opening.

  3. Lift up the tab on the bottom of the lens cover with your finger and pull the cover away from the dryer.

  4. Turn the bulb counterclockwise with your fingers and remove it from the socket. Thread a new 7-watt incandescent bulb into the socket until it is hand tight.

  5. Insert the top of the lens cover into the top of the opening and push the bottom until it snaps into place. Close the dryer door and plug the power cord into the outlet.
