Kenmore refrigerators have a handle on each door. Depending on the model of your refrigerator, the handle is either constructed of plastic or metal. If the handle is damaged or breaks, opening and closing the refrigerator doors may become a hassle. Fortunately, replacing the handle on your Kenmore refrigerator is a quick process. The screws securing the handle are covered by two plastic trim pieces, which when removed, allow you to quickly remove the handle.
Close the refrigerator door to provide the bracing needed to make the repair.
Slide the plastic trim located above the handle upward, toward the top of the refrigerator. Remove the plastic trim.
Slide the plastic trim located below the handle downward toward the bottom of the refrigerator. Remove the trim.
Tighten the door handle screws if the door handle is loose.
Remove the door handle screws. Remove the door handle if the handle is damaged.
Align the new door handle with the door. Secure it using the screws that were removed from the old door handle.
Align the plastic trim pieces with the guides above and below the door handle. Slide the trim pieces into place.
