Things You'll Need
An Amana refrigerator contains a drip pan that collects moisture that accumulates as a result of the defrost cycle. The water falls to the bottom of the refrigerator and exits through a drain hole. Underneath the drain is the drip pan where the water gathers and eventually evaporates. Occasionally you should remove the drip pan and clean it to avoid excessive bacteria growth. You can clean the drip pan on your Amana refrigerator using a common household cleaner.
Locate the kick plate on the bottom front of your Amana refrigerator. The kick plate is a narrow plastic piece that covers the entire width and contains vents.
Grasp the kick plate with both hands and push down while you pull it off the refrigerator. Depending on the particular model of Amana refrigerator you own, you may need to push up while you pull the kick plate away from the refrigerator.
Reach underneath the refrigerator and slide out the drip pan on the bottom. Hold it flat because it may contain water. Empty the pan into the kitchen sink and place it on the countertop.
Pour a cup of bleach into the drip pan and let it set for 20 minutes. Put on rubber gloves and use a scrubbing pad to scrub the drip pan with the bleach. Empty the bleach into the sink and rinse the pan with warm water while you use the scrubbing pad to remove any debris that is stuck on the surface of the pan.
Reinstall the drip pan on the bottom of the refrigerator and replace the kick plate.
