How to Use a Mini Refrigerator

The mini refrigerator is a staple in college dormitory rooms on campuses across the United States. Mini fridges are small refrigerators, typically of less than 4 cubic feet, that are used to refrigerate beverages and smaller food items. In most cases, the cost of a mini fridge is less than $175, and the refrigerator's portable nature makes it easy to transport between locations. You can find mini fridges at most appliance stores, such as Sears, Target, Best Buy and Wal-Mart.

Step 1

Remove the mini refrigerator from its box and clean the interior and exterior. Clean the fridge with a standard kitchen cleaner. Allow the mini fridge to stand upright for four hours before plugging it in to the electrical outlet.

Step 2

Place the mini refrigerator in the location where you would like to use it. Keep the device 5 inches from any wall to allow air to reach it and prevent overheating.

Step 3

Plug the mini refrigerator into the electrical outlet. Mini refrigerators have regular sized electrical cords and plug into a standard wall outlet. Allow the mini fridge to cool for roughly three hours prior to putting food and beverages into it.

Step 4

Place food and beverages into the mini refrigerator to keep them cool.
