Kenmore refrigerators typically have an ice maker that makes new ice cubs when its metal arm is lowered. If you need to repair or remove your ice maker, you must first remove the ice maker cover, which is a white place piece covering the ice maker motor assembly. You can also remove the ice maker cover at any time if the piece needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Open the freezer door of your Kenmore refrigerator. Locate the ice maker cover on the front of the ice maker.
Move the metal arm on the ice maker up, if it is down, to turn the ice maker off.
Insert a flat-head screwdriver in between the cover and ice maker on the side of the ice maker, then push down on the screwdriver to help pry off the cover.
Lift and remove the cover off the ice maker. If the ice maker cover is dirty, wash it with warm water and soap.
Inspect the ice maker cover for any cracks or other damage and replace the part if necessary.
Place the cover back over the ice maker, pressing on it until it snaps back into place.
Move the metal arm back up if you want to make new ice.
