How to Troubleshoot a Sunbeam Water Cooler

Sunbeam is a company that manufactures products for your kitchen, bedroom and general health. The Sunbeam water cooler is a product that provides both hot and cold water and is a good fit in the home or office. When small issues arise with your water cooler, you can often avoid the expense and inconvenience of a service call by taking care of it yourself.

Step 1

Check the cold water switch to ensure it is on, and ensure the unit has at least 6 inches of ventilation room at the back and 2 inches on each side, if you aren't getting any cold water out. Also, keep the cooler away from direct sunlight.

Step 2

Press the power cord plug firmly into the wall socket and give the unit some time to warm up if the temperature in the room is lower than the thermostat setting and the compressor won't come on. It may also take some time if the cooler has been brought into the room after being outside in a colder temperature.

Step 3

Inspect the jug on top of the cooler for pinholes and check to ensure the soft rubber seal on the drain cap is on securely if water is dripping onto the floor. Also, empty the drip tray if it is full.

Step 4

Clean out the water cooler thoroughly and drain any water still in the taps if the water has an unpleasant taste. Pour 2 cups of white vinegar and 4 cups of warm water into the water tank. Leave it for 15 minutes, and then drain it by using each tap individually and the drain plug located at the back of the cooler. Rinse it all out with clean water when you are finished.
