Frigidaire is a well-known home appliance manufacturer and a division of the Electrolux Group. In addition to the refrigerators, washers and dryers for which the company is known, Frigidaire also produces a popular line of dehumidifiers that can be used to rid the air in your home of unwanted moisture. Because of its user-friendly controls and intuitive set-up process, you can learn how to use a Frigidaire dehumidifier in just a few simple steps.

Step 1

Choose a suitable location for your dehumidifier. Place the dehumidifier on a level surface in an enclosed area of your home. Make sure that there are at least 12 inches of clearance on all sides of the appliance.

Step 2

Plug the dehumidifier into a grounded 115-volt AC power outlet. Note that the appliance is equipped with a three-prong grounded plug; never attempt modify the plug or force it into an unsuitable electrical outlet.

Step 3

Press the "On/Off" button to power on the dehumidifier; the appliance will run in the factory-default continuous mode with the fan on the high-speed setting. Allow the dehumidifier to run on this setting for the first three to four days of operation.

Step 4

Press the "Humidity/Up" or "Humidity/Down" buttons to change the dehumidifier's humidity setting in 5-percent increments. Release the "Humidity/Up" or "Humidity/Down" button when the desired humidity level is shown; the dehumidifier will then display the room's current humidity level.

Step 5

Press the "Fan" button to toggle between the "High" and "Low" fan speed settings; the indicator light above the "Fan" button will indicate which fan speed setting is currently activated.

Step 6

Use the dehumidifier's timer function to delay the start or stop time. Note that if the appliance is on, using this function will delay the stop time; if it is off, using the timer function will delay the start time. Press the "Timer" button and use the "Up" or "Down" arrow buttons to adjust the start or stop time as desired.

Step 7

Empty the dehumidifier bucket when the "Bucket Full" indicator light illuminates. Press on the sides of the bucket to disengage its clips. Pull the bucket forward to remove it from the dehumidifier. Pour out the water collected in the bucket. Replace the dehumidifier bucket and press gently on it until you hear the clips engage.
