How to Replace an Oven Light in a Whirlpool Oven

The oven light in a Whirlpool oven will come on automatically when the oven door is opened or when you touch the "Oven Light" touch key on the control panel. As with any ordinary light bulb, the oven light can burn out. These oven lights are standard 15-watt appliance bulbs that can generally be purchased at any outlet that sells household light bulbs. Replacement requires no tools.

Step 1

Disconnect power to the oven.

Step 2

Open the oven door, then remove the racks.

Step 3

Grasp the glass bulb cover on the back wall of the oven compartment. Turn the cover counterclockwise until it is unscrewed, then remove it.

Step 4

Grasp the bulb. Turn the bulb counterclockwise until it is unscrewed, then remove it.

Step 5

Insert the new bulb into the socket. Turn the bulb clockwise until it is fully seated.

Step 6

Reinstall the glass bulb cover. Turn the bulb cover clockwise until it is fully seated.

Step 7

Reinstall the oven racks, then close the oven door.

Step 8

Reconnect power to the oven.
