How to Use a Charbroil Electric Smoker

Your Charbroil Electric Smoker is a great tool for making smoked foods with a variety of flavors. You should always use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of your food as often smoked foods look different on the outside than other methods of cooking. Try adding different juices or using different wood chips to create flavorful dishes. Before using your Charbroil Electric Smoker you should read all safety information to prevent injury or a fire.

Step 1

Soak wood chips in water or other liquid for 2 hours.

Step 2

Use the nonstick vegetable oil spray to coat the inside lid and body. Fill the water pan 2/3 full with hot water or other liquid. Add 1 1/2 cups wood chips to the reflector plate.

Step 3

Make sure the controller knob is turned to OFF before you plug in your smoker. Put the smoker on a flat, level heatproof surface and plug it in. Turn the controller all the way to high.

Step 4

Add your food. Estimate that it will take 4 times longer to cook a food than with another cooking method. Monitor the temperature of the smoker to make sure it is around 250F. Add more water or wood chips as necessary, unplugging the unit before the addition of water.

Step 5

Check the internal temperature of your food. When it has reached the required heat for safe consumption as marked on your meat thermometer, remove it.
