The American Standard Freedom 80 Gas Furnace comes with a reusable filter that can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or by washing it with detergent. Instead of reusing the filter, the American Standard Freedom 80 can be used with disposable filters. Disposable filters can be replaced periodically without the need to clean the filter. A clean filter in a gas furnace will allow the furnace to operate better by increasing air flow and keeping the system clean. The filter prevents dust and allergens from entering the ventilation system.
