My Samsung Dishwasher Has a Low Level Water Error

The Whirlpool Corporation manufactures a line of appliances under the Samsung brand name. Samsung dishwashers offer multiple cycle options and a noise reduction feature. If the dishwasher experiences a malfunction, it can register a 9E, or low water error. In many cases, you can solve the 9E error dilemma with some simple troubleshooting. However, a low water error that doesn't reset after troubleshooting indicates a faulty dishwasher inlet valve.

Dishwasher Troubleshooting

Step 1

Flip the circuit breaker switch that corresponds to the dishwasher to the "On" and "Off" positions to briefly disrupt the electrical supply to the appliance and clear the low water level error code.

Step 2

Look under the sink and inspect the water supply line and water supply valve. Check to ensure that the water supply line is securely connected to the supply valve. Correct any kinks or twists in the supply line, if necessary. Make sure that the water supply valve is in the "On/Open" position.

Step 3

Add detergent and run a regular dishwashing cycle while the dishwasher is empty of dishes.

Replacing Inlet Valve

Step 1

Switch the circuit breaker that corresponds to the dishwasher to the "Off" position. Turn the water supply valve to the "Off/Closed" position.

Step 2

Remove the two screws that hold the kick plate to the bottom front of the dishwasher. Set the kick plate and screws to one side.

Step 3

Locate the water inlet valve on the left side of the dishwasher cabinet. Disconnect the water supply line from the water inlet valve; use a wrench if necessary.

Step 4

Disconnect the two attached wires. Remove the two screws that secure the water inlet valve to the dishwasher cabinet.

Step 5

Reverse the process to install the new dishwasher water inlet valve. Switch the circuit breaker back to the "On" position to restore electricity to the appliance.
